Best be yourself, imperial, plain, and true.” Here, these words by Robert Browning will resonate deep in your soul.
A destination for peace and wellness on a white sand beach on Mykonos’ tranquil southern coast. This large hotel is light and bright with quirky detailing, and offers luxurious – yet relaxed and friendly – service. The private beach is just a few steps down the hill, and it also has a big pool with comfy loungers and incredible views. It’s home to one of the island’s most popular sushi restaurants.

This is the closest hotel in the Myconian Collection to Elia Beach. Mykonos Town is seven miles away by complimentary hotel shuttle. The party beaches of Cavo Paradiso and Super Paradise are a few miles away by water taxi, or half an hour by road. The enormous light-filled lobby features white sculpted flying books, giant ceramic elephants and hippos, kitsch white-leather loungers with ‘I Love Mykonos’ cushions and a wall of pretty colored glasses. There are also cute ceramic rabbits scattered about, as well as retro typewriters and scales. In a smaller space the quirky details might be overwhelming, but here, it works really well.

The huge pool is split into two and has a swim-up bar. It’s surrounded by thickly cushioned black and white loungers, has incredible sea views, and is served by attentive staff who are always ready to offer a drink or a new towel. There’s also a small toddler pool and a hot tub, plus a spa with five treatment rooms and a relaxation area with two seawater pools. A few meters from the hotel there’s a private section of beach with loungers and umbrellas. The hotel drivers will take you to the other hotels in the group if you want to use their facilities or restaurants, and there are also several free shuttles each day to Mykonos Town. The staff are friendly and most of them speak several languages, often calling their guests by name.
Rooms are simply decorated, mainly in white. Some of the huge, comfortable beds have headboards with a large heart or bolt of lightning, other rooms have bamboo detailing. Most bathrooms are semi-open with a white curtain for modesty, with three types of luxury toiletries. Fifteen rooms have private pools (the one in room 154 is absolutely enormous) and 14 rooms have their own outdoor hot tubs. Rooms 165 to 169 look out onto little grassy gardens with loungers beyond their private pools.

The hotel’s main restaurant, Celebrities, offers a wide range of typically Greek dishes, with plenty of local seafood as well as meat, salads, pasta and risotto. The pool bar/restaurant Nostos serves simpler dishes during the day and Meltemi is where breakfast is served – an enormous buffet ranging from honey (from the comb) to stuffed vine leaves and all the usual hot options with a gluten-free range. Sishu, the sushi restaurant, offers a huge menu and has pretty, lit up ‘trees’ on and around its tables. There’s also an indoor/outdoor candlelit bar, Eros.

Myconian Imperial, a luxury hotel with all the grace and none of the airs, this prominent member of the Leading Hotels of the World is an exclusive address on Mykonos, poised immediately above the island’s longest fine sand beach in Elia, a setting renowned for the contrast pleasures of natural beauty and sophisticated revelry. Its majestic white profile rises up from rustic stone walls that anchor it into the foot of a gentle slope, one foot in the water and with views that extend to the horizon. The same sense of spaciousness defines this accommodation with airy interiors. An oasis of white, offset by warm wood details and quirky design.
Openings onto the expanse of sea and sky invite you to move seamlessly in and out, and discover the many secret lookouts, the luxury spa, the gourmet restaurants and the entertainment deck with its saltwater pool and seductive bars.

The Myconian Imperial pairs barefoot luxuries with high-end service and is a long-standing favorite with island-hopping honeymooners and young couples who seek laid-back luxury in a beautiful natural setting that is a short ride from the island’s exciting nightlife. The friendly staff considers the comfort and wellbeing of each individual guest, creating an idyllic holiday home to which many, including myself, return with unswerving loyalty year after year.
